Amur State Medical Academy Sets Record for Targeted Medical Recruitment

"We expect to significantly reduce the shortage of specialists in Amur clinics and hospitals in a few years," said Vasily Alexandrovich Orlov, Governor of the Amur Region.

The Amur Medical Academy broke the record for targeted recruitment - contracts were signed by almost 140 future specialists, the press service of the Government of the region reports.

Of these, 120 students chose the specialty "General Medicine", the rest - "Pediatrics". As noted in the Amur Ministry of Health, this is a record.

Two years ago, in 2024, 64 "target students" entered the ASMA, in 2025 - already 115. This year, quotas for targeted admission were closed by all Amur districts and districts. Most of all, doctors are needed in inter-district hospitals of the second level, which provide assistance, including to residents of the surrounding territories.

"Last year, a historical maximum of targeted enrollment was recorded at the Amur State Medical Academy. This year there are even more target students. There were a lot of candidates for the place. Traditionally, most schoolchildren wanted to conclude targeted contracts with health care institutions in Blagoveshchensk. But we held consultations, and based on the results of this work, applicants entered into contracts with district and interdistrict hospitals," commented Olga Artemyeva, Deputy Minister of Health of the Amur Region.

This year, career guidance work for schoolchildren was carried out by 45 medical organizations of the Amur Region. More than a thousand future applicants took part in excursions and Open Days in hospitals and clinics, where they were able to get acquainted in detail with the daily tasks of doctors.

"I thank the Ministry of Health and the heads of municipalities: career guidance work among school graduates was carried out well. In recent years, we have been working closely to increase the availability of medical care. We repair hospitals and clinics, build new health care institutions, try to provide doctors with rental and municipal housing, and pay relocation allowances. We expect that the complex of these measures, combined with targeted training of students, will allow us to significantly reduce the shortage of specialists in Amur clinics and hospitals in a few years, and ideally to completely solve this problem," said the Governor of the Amur Region Vasily Alexandrovich Orlov.
