Amur Medical Academy Students Explore the History of Gorky Street

Future doctors traveled back in time along one of the main streets of Blagoveshchensk. Excursionists learned amazing stories hidden behind the ancient walls, the press service of the Blagoveshchensk administration reports.

A guide to the past for young people was Natalia Kravchenko, a certified guide and head of the Alexander Kirillov People's Museum. The group started from the Municipal Library of Urban Innovations "Central" on Krasnoarmeyskaya Street, 128, where the museum space is located.

The guide told about the creation of a Roman Catholic church, the Alekseevskaya gymnasium, a prayer house for spiritual Molokans, a telephone exchange and a police department with a fire tower more than a century ago. Students were able to virtually look inside these historic buildings.

Most of the participants are first-year students who came to study from different parts of Russia: Bashkortostan, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, the Altai Republic, and Vladivostok. It was especially important for them to get acquainted with the history of the street, where they will now spend most of their time.
