Employees of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases told the students of Lyceum No11 how to measure blood pressure correctly
Employees of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases held a master class "Method of measuring blood pressure" at the Blagoveshchensk Lyceum No11. Students of grades 9 and 11 took part in it. Teachers of the medical academy told them about what arterial hypertension is, about risk factors and prevention, and also taught them how to measure blood pressure correctly.
"Arterial hypertension is a fairly common disease. And recently it is increasingly common in young people, including schoolchildren. In general, today about 30-40% of the population suffers from high blood pressure. In order to notice the disease in time and prevent the development of a more severe form, it is necessary to know the method of correct blood pressure measurement," said Elena Magalyas, associate professor of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases.
According to teachers, the problem of high blood pressure in recent years has already been encountered at school age. This is facilitated by a large number of risk factors - excess body weight, smoking, diabetes mellitus, physical inactivity.
In addition to raising awareness of young people about arterial hypertension, the event was also of a career guidance nature. In the near future, the staff of the department are going to hold a number of such meetings in other schools of the city.
