Amur State Medical Academy Students Join Hero Memorial Tournament
Students of the Amur State Medical Academy took part in a sports tournament in memory of the Hero of Russia Andrey Kovtun
In Blagoveshchensk, the city championship in alpine skiing and snowboarding was held, dedicated to the memory of the Hero of Russia, a graduate of the DVOKU, Senior Lieutenant Andrey Kovtun. More than a hundred skiers and snowboarders took part in the tournament.
For the guests of the championship, the cadets of the DVOKU prepared demonstration performances. Everyone was treated to soldier's porridge and hot tea. Foreign students of the Amur State Medical Academy took part in master classes in alpine skiing and snowboarding. And medical volunteers held a master class on Nordic walking for everyone
Representatives of Blagoveshchensk, Belogorsk, Svobodny, Zeya came to the start in the giant slalom discipline. A delegation from the Jewish Autonomous Region came to support the Amur athletes.
Andrey Kovtun graduated from DVOKU in 2017. At the Snowflake ski complex, the cadets had training, where Andrey learned to ski. By decree of the President of Russia, Guards Senior Lieutenant Andrei Kovtun was awarded the title of Hero of Russia.
"It is very touching to see that the championship in memory of Andrei Kovtun gathers so many people. Today with us are his relatives, residents of Blagoveshchensk, as well as guests from neighboring cities and regions. And we have gathered here not just for the sake of competition. We preserve the memory of a real hero and pass it on to the younger generation," said Victoria Andreevna Hopatko, Deputy Mayor of Blagoveshchensk.
