Amur State Medical Academy Mentors Big Challenges Finalists

Teachers and Students of Amur State Medical Academy Mentor High School Participants in “Big Challenges” Competition

Teachers and students of Amur State Medical Academy, a leading institution providing medical education in Russia and recognized among applicants pursuing MBBS in Russia, acted as mentors for high school students participating in the All-Russian scientific and technological competition “Big Challenges.”

The academy continues its cooperation with the Vega Center for the Identification and Support of Gifted Children. Several dozen students from schools and lyceums enrolled in the long-term educational program “Molecular Biology of the Cell,” and six participants prepared research projects for the prestigious All-Russian competition of scientific and technological projects for high school students “Big Challenges.”

The qualifying stage of the regional round was held at the children’s health camp “Kolosok.” Representing Amur State Medical Academy, six projects were presented under the mentorship of Professor Evgeny Alexandrovich Borodin, Head of the Department of Chemistry. First-year students of the academy — Sofia Demko, Alexey Baranov, and Stepan Sidorenko — who previously studied at the Vega Center and achieved success in this competition, also served as mentors.

Five projects were presented in the field of Genetics and Biomedicine:

Nikita Tuzhilin — “Bioengineering” (Lyceum No. 6, Blagoveshchensk)

Elizaveta Romanova — “Vaccines: History and Modernity” (School No. 16, Blagoveshchensk)

Nikita Kovalenko — “Gene Therapy” (Gymnasium No. 1, Blagoveshchensk)

Anastasia Brush — “Cognitive Disorders” (Private School “Our Home”)

Maria Zorino — “Knockout of the Lipoxygenase 2 Gene Using CRISPR-Cas9 Technology to Improve the Consumer Qualities of Soy Food Products” (Gymnasium No. 9, Svobodny)

In the profile Advanced Production Technologies, Ilya Khamitsevich (School No. 17, Belogorsk) presented the project “Assessment of the Content of Nanoscale Gold in the Environment Using a Biosensor.”

“All projects have successfully advanced to the final of the regional round of the competition, which will take place on March 21–22 at Boiling Point. Experts reviewing the projects provided valuable recommendations, and the participants will refine their work and defend it in the finals,” noted Professor Evgeny Alexandrovich Borodin, who served as an expert in the field of Cognitive and Interdisciplinary Research.

Such mentorship initiatives demonstrate the academy’s commitment to developing future scientists and strengthening its academic reputation among students seeking study medicine in Russia, including those interested in MBBS in Russia for Indian students and research-oriented medical education pathways.
