Medical Students in Russia Honor Veterans Through Community and Patriotic Activities

Teachers of the Department of Traumatology with a course of disaster medicine Victoria Viktorovna Zaritskaya and Irina Anatolyevna Kreshchenok, together with second-year students and the patriotic club "Challenge" of the Amur State Medical Academy, headed by Alexander Alexandrovich Agarkov, attended a rally dedicated to the Day of Combat Veterans, which brings together veterans of absolutely all branches of the armed forces and participants in various conflicts: from Afghanistan and the North Caucasus to Syria.

The rally took place in the square of soldiers-internationalists of the city of Blagoveshchensk. The head of the Far Eastern Guards Higher Combined Arms Command School, Guards Major General Valery Evgenievich Sharagov, assistant of the department and deputy dean of the Amur State Medical Academy, veteran of the SVO Alexander Alexandrovich Agarkov and Valery Vasilyevich Voshchevoz, chairman of the Amur regional public organization "Russian Union of Veterans of Afghanistan and NWO" named after Guards Lieutenant Vyacheslav Voshchevoz, who officially opened the the fourth line of the people's memorial. Due to the huge response from the Amur residents, the complex was quickly expanded by adding new commemorative stands. By 2026, the number of posted portraits of heroes exceeded 600.

Students and residents of the city honored the memory of the heroes with a minute of silence and laid flowers at the memorial.

"A visit to the People's Memorial in Blagoveshchensk is a powerful tool for the patriotic education of students, such places evoke a lively emotional response among young people and form a conscious attitude to the history of their country," said the teachers of the Amur State Medical Academy.
