Medical Students Complete Obstetrics and Gynecology Internship in Russia

Ten students of Heilongjiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, who are undergoing an internship at the Amur State Medical Academy, completed the program in the module "Obstetrics and Gynecology" today. It was held on the basis of the Amur Regional Perinatal Center.

"Our main task is to acquaint Chinese students with the organization of care in obstetrics and gynecology, and most importantly with neonatal care. Our center is the only third-level hospital in the Amur Region, which takes on the most serious pathologies," says Elena Nikolaeva, head of the perinatal center, “The practice of foreign students gives us a good opportunity to exchange experience, tell them about how work is organized in our country, as well as learn about its organization in medical institutions in China. We are very happy to welcome our future colleagues, and we hope that their stay at the perinatal center will give them a lot of useful information and help them succeed in their future profession.”

For two days, Chinese students got acquainted with the work of the center, visited different departments and worked with patients. They practiced measurements, listened to the fetal heartbeat, and worked with an ultrasound machine. Also, foreign students saw delivery rooms, operating rooms, got acquainted with the modern medical equipment used in the perinatal center.

"Since these students are studying traditional Chinese medicine, everything is very interesting to them. The guys are very curious about our departments, the construction of our hospitals and the work of the staff. In the educational program that they study at their university, obstetrics is given a very short course, so everything is new and interesting for them here, they like everything very much, and they are always delighted with this practice," said Konstantin Stokoz, assistant of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Amur State Medical Academy.

Such student exchanges between the Amur State Medical Academy and Heilongjiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine are held annually. The day before, Chinese students have already completed an internship in the "Therapy" module. It took place for two days on the basis of the Blagoveshchensk City Clinical Hospital.
