Conference on Clinical Observations of Residents
XXIX Conference on Clinical Observations of Residents: Infectious Diseases
An annual conference dedicated to clinical cases from the practice of residents was held. The section "Infectious Diseases" brought together doctors, teachers and students. The participants discussed current diagnostic and therapeutic tasks. The event was attended by 33 people.
Key topics and clinical reviews:
Difficulties in the management of an early patient with a complicated course of chickenpox
The features of the management of this patient were presented by the resident of the 1st year of study Valeria Babarykina (supervisor - assistant Tatyana Dolgikh). A clinical case of a three-year-old patient with typical exanthema and specific conjunctivitis led to an in-depth differential diagnosis.
Traveler's Diarrhea Case After Visiting Vietnam
1st year resident Natalia Vodyanik (supervisor - Associate Professor, Candidate of Medical Sciences Anastasia Zotova) analyzed the case of campylobacteriosis and reminded of the need for high alertness of primary care doctors in relation to imported infections in persons who returned from Southeast Asia with symptoms of acute gastroenteritis.
Clinical analysis of a case of severe tick-borne encephalitis with a favorable outcome
1st year resident Daria Kurgina (supervisor – assistant Tatyana Dolgikh) presented an analysis of the case of a 64-year-old patient with meningeal tick-borne encephalitis. This observation once again proved: 1) modern medicine is capable of a lot if you follow the current recommendations for therapy; 2) vaccination has been and remains the main preventive measure for tick-borne encephalitis, especially in endemic regions.
Features of the clinical course of HIV infection in the absence of antiretroviral therapy
1st year resident Maria Vishnevetskaya (supervisor - Associate Professor, Candidate of Medical Sciences Anastasia Zotova) spoke about an adult patient who denied the diagnosis for 7 years and did not take appropriate therapy. Against the background of active viral replication, a polymorphic clinical picture developed.
The participants emphasized the practical value of the reports for doctors of different specialties, discussed the nuances of diagnosing infectious pathologies and the importance of all types of prevention. Particular attention was paid to the role of epidemiological history and laboratory methods.
The conference ended with a call for further study of current recommendations and specialized literature, as well as the publication of such cases in scientific journals to improve the skills of future infectious disease specialists.
