Amur State Medical Academy Hosts “Pulse of Victory” Conference Linking Wartime Medicine with Modern Clinical Practice
The Department of Infectious Diseases of the Amur State Medical Academy hosted a student conference dedicated to Victory Day. May 9 is not only a symbol of state independence, but also a starting point for a deep understanding of the contribution of domestic medicine to the preservation of the country's human potential.
"The end of large-scale hostilities in the spring of 1945 was the result of the colossal efforts of the entire people, determining the path of development of world history for decades to come. A special role in achieving this goal was played by medical workers, who made it possible to return millions of fighters to duty through the introduction of effective treatment methods and a well-functioning system of care. It is worth noting the selfless work of the specialists of the infectious diseases service, thanks to which it was possible to prevent the catastrophic spread of diseases and ensure the sanitary safety of the army and the civilian population in the most difficult wartime conditions," the department said.
The conference program opened with a minute of silence as a sign of respect for the feat of the heroes, after which the participants began to present reports:
— in the work "Symbols of Victory" Daria Medentseva (514 grams) analyzed the iconic images (the Banner of Victory, Levitan's voice, a white dove, etc.) of Victory Day, which in various forms embody the unity of generations, loyalty to historical memory and deep gratitude for a peaceful sky;
– the speech "Participation of animals in the Great Patriotic War" (Ruslana Lytka, 514 gr.) was devoted to the multifaceted role of various species of animals in ensuring front-line logistics, communication and the performance of medical evacuation tasks during the Great Patriotic War;
– "Organization of the Medical Service during the Great Patriotic War" (Anna Bondar, 622 gr.) – a report on the principles of treatment and the system of resource management, which ensured the stable operation of hospitals and the high efficiency of medical care during the war;
– "The Fate of Medical Students during the Great Patriotic War" (Alesya Kobets, 513 gr.) – an unprecedented feat of medical students of 1941, who, in the conditions of accelerated training, the hardest trials of the front and the rear, became the foundation of the military medical service, ensuring the salvation of hundreds of thousands of lives at the cost of selfless work and colossal losses in their ranks;
– Elizaveta Bukalova (514 grams) spoke about the combat path of her great-grandfather, the commander of the mortar crew Pyotr Bonifatovich Rutskoy, whose contribution to the defeat of the Japanese fortifications and the Kwantung Army in August 1945 was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War II degree and the medal "For the Victory over Japan".
At the end of the conference, the participants listened to a heartfelt speech by student Yegor Likhno (513 gr.), who performed the legendary "Moments" by Robert Rozhdestvensky.
"The event not only expanded students' knowledge of the history of the military medical service, but also strengthened the connection between generations through personal empathy for the feat of their ancestors. Such meetings at the department are becoming an important tradition that forms ethical guidelines and professional pride in future doctors," the department noted.
