Amur Medical Academy Student Shares Her Eventful Summer in Kholmsk

August 19, 2026

My summer in my native port city of Kholmsk turned out to be eventful, versatile and truly unforgettable. It combined professional experience, volunteer activities, important personal achievements and, of course, a bright vacation among the amazing Sakhalin nature.

One of its important parts was an internship in the city hospital. I gained valuable experience in the therapeutic and surgical departments, was able to get acquainted with the features of the medical profession and apply my knowledge in practice.

In addition, this summer I was trained at a driving school. For me, this was an important achievement and another step towards independence.

I also participated in city events as a volunteer.

On August 22, I will work as part of the volunteer corps in a large-scale military-historical reconstruction of the battle on the Kamyshov Pass. The event will bring together participants and spectators from all over the Sakhalin Region, recreate the atmosphere of historical events and remind of the courage and heroism of the defenders of our Motherland. It is especially important for me to be part of an event aimed at preserving historical memory.

On the day of the 156th anniversary of the city of Kholmsk, the mayor of the Kholmsk Municipal District awarded me the Volunteer of the Sakhalin Region insignia. This award is a great honor and motivation for me to continue volunteering.

Summer is not only work and social activity, but also leisure. I enjoy the amazingly warm weather, swim, ride a SUP board, spend time with family and friends.

And I also managed to visit the Sakhalin Zoo and climb the Red Mountain. From there, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding natural scenery!
