A Student from India Won a Prize in the Amur Cup 2026 Badminton Championship

In Blagoveshchensk, the open badminton championship and tournament Amur Cup 2026 brought together athletes from across Russia and abroad in a competitive sporting event.

More than 200 athletes participated in the championship. Alongside local players, participants arrived from India, Vietnam, China, and Russian cities such as Khabarovsk and Vladivostok, demonstrating high-level badminton skills and competitive spirit.

A total of 50 medal sets were contested during the competition. Adult participants competed in doubles and mixed doubles categories under divisions “A” and “B”. Representing Amur State Medical Academy, Indian students actively participated in the event. Student Gurumurti Rohan achieved third place in the doubles category “B”, marking a proud sporting achievement for international students studying medicine in Russia.

During the event, organizers highlighted the importance of sports in promoting unity and cooperation among nations. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, 2026 has been declared the Year of National Unity, emphasizing collaboration and shared cultural values through activities such as sports competitions.

Head coach of the Amur Badminton Club, Yegor Ryabovich, thanked athletes and organizers for promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and international friendship through the tournament.

The participation and achievement of international students demonstrate how sports continue to strengthen cultural exchange and student life experiences while studying abroad in Russia.
