Amur State Medical Academy Hosts Student Awareness Film Session

Fifth-year students of the Amur State Medical Academy watched a documentary film by Andrey Medvedev (Russia-1) "Betrayal". It tells about the fate of young people recruited by foreign special services and convicted of terrorist and extremist activities. The film is based on the stories of those serving their sentences. 

"In the Far East, it often seems to us that the events related to the special military operation are taking place very far from us. However, this is not entirely true. Events also took place on the territory of our region, some of which are already well known, and some have not yet been reported to the general public. In all cases, young people were promised money for committing illegal and terrorist acts. Of course, no one received any money. We received only criminal sentences," said Andrey Shelevoy, Vice-Rector for Security of the Amur State Medical Academy, addressing the students, “The film that you will watch today tells about the fate of people who committed similar acts in other regions, and are already in prison.”

The meeting was attended by the assistant of the Department of Children's Diseases, psychologist Olga Yutkina. She told future doctors about the reasons for such actions on the part of young people through the prism of the Attachment Theory. A secure attachment to the Motherland is formed from a secure family attachment, which is formed in children under 5 years old. Adolescents with insecure attachments make up about 30-40% of the total, and they are the target for recruiters. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to the formation of a healthy family system and reliable intergenerational relationships.

After the screening, the students discussed the film and expressed their thoughts about what they saw. Over the next two weeks, it will be watched by students of all courses of the Amur State Medical Academy.
