Conference Explores Causes of Left-Sided Chest Pain
The Amur State Medical Academy hosted a scientific and practical conference dedicated to one of the most frequent and clinically complex problems of outpatient practice - pain in the left side of the chest. The event was organized by students of the 515th and 512th groups under the scientific supervision of the assistant of the Department of Faculty and Polyclinic Therapy Irina Soluyanova.
Chest pain daily forces the doctor to solve a dilemma: cardiac or extracardiac origin? It was this difficult differential diagnosis and rational therapeutic tactics in conditions of lack of time and laboratory resources that the conference was devoted to, consisting of nine reports built in a strict logical sequence - from the analysis of nosologies to medical and social expertise.
The scientific conference was opened by the report of Polina Kretova "Cardiac and extracardiac causes of pain in the left side of the chest and criteria for their differential diagnosis". She clearly structured the "red flags" of cardiac pathology and presented an algorithm for the initial examination
Alexander Prosyannikov continued the topic with the report "Features of cardiac pain in CHD with the justification of disturbed mechanisms, classification, drug recovery". He reasoned the pathophysiology of ischemia and presented modern pharmacological correction schemes, and Diana Baklan in her speech "Diagnostic criteria confirming the diagnosis of coronary artery disease" consolidated the material, focusing on biochemical, ECG and echocardiographic markers available in primary care.
A particular complexity of outpatient diagnostics was highlighted by the report of Dmitry Fomenko "Features of cardiac pain in myocarditis with the justification of disturbed mechanisms, classification, drug restoration of disturbed mechanisms".
Muza Dmitrieva presented the "Diagnostic criteria confirming the diagnosis of myocarditis", emphasizing the role of laboratory biomarkers and cardiac MRI.
The most controversial topic was the presentation of Kristina Murteeva – "Features of cardiac pain in NCD with the justification of disturbed mechanisms, classification, drug recovery and relief of clinical manifestations with justification". The speaker clearly showed how autonomic dysfunction imitates a "vascular catastrophe", but requires fundamentally different – sympatholytic and psychotherapeutic – tactics.
Daria Makarova in her report "Diagnostic criteria confirming the diagnosis of NCD" completed this block by proposing a clear algorithm for excluding organic pathology.
Ekaterina Krechetova made a presentation on "CHF, diagnostic criteria, definition, classification (2025), etiological treatment", familiarizing her colleagues with the latest clinical guidelines and modern approaches to the treatment of chronic heart failure.
Zhanna Sokolova concluded the conference with a report "Issues of disability, medical examination, medical examination, sanatorium-resort treatment of patients with HA, CHD, NCD, myocarditis", which is extremely important for a future doctor. The speech gave the entire scientific discussion a practical dimension, showing how the diagnosis is transformed into the legal and social status of the patient.
The conference emphasized the fundamental truth: pain in the left side of the chest is rarely "just pain". It is always a diagnostic challenge at the intersection of cardiology, neurology and gastroenterology, a powerful stimulus for interdisciplinary interaction and exactly the symptom that begins for thousands of patients their journey in the outpatient network. Not only treatment tactics, but often the patient's life depend on how competently the first-line doctor conducts a differential diagnosis.
